Article Contributor – Civic Education
About Husika
Husika (husika.org) is a civic technology organization dedicated to inclusive governance. Beyond building platforms for citizen engagement, we invest in civic education — helping everyday Kenyans understand policy, governance, and their rights as citizens.
Role Overview
We are looking for Article Contributors to join the Husika publishing team on a voluntary basis. This role is open to anyone — students, professionals, researchers, advocates, or simply curious minds — who is passionate about policy and governance and wants to contribute to an informed, engaged citizenry.
As a Contributor, you will write objective, accessible, and educative articles that break down complex governance and policy topics for a general audience. There is no fixed publishing schedule — you contribute at your own pace, when inspiration and time allow.
Key Responsibilities
Research and write clear, objective, and well-sourced articles on governance, public policy, and civic affairs
Simplify complex policy topics into accessible content for a general Kenyan audience
Collaborate with the Husika editorial team through the review and publishing process
Uphold editorial standards of accuracy, fairness, and civic responsibility
Optionally engage with readers through comments and discussions on published pieces
What You'll Gain
Platform & Visibility — Publish under your name on Husika, a growing civic platform with a national audience of policy-minded readers
Grow with Husika — Be part of a civic movement that is scaling, with opportunities to take on editorial and leadership roles as the platform grows
Network Access — Connect with a community of policy thinkers, governance practitioners, and civic leaders within the Husika network
Mentorship & Editorial Development — Get constructive editorial feedback that sharpens your research, writing, and policy analysis skills
Portfolio Building — Establish a credible, publicly accessible body of work in civic education and policy writing
Who We're Looking For
Anyone with a genuine interest in Kenyan governance, public policy, or civic affairs
A clear, objective writer who can translate complex issues into accessible language
Committed to factual, balanced, and non-partisan content
Self-driven — able to research and produce articles independently
No formal qualifications required; passion, clarity, and objectivity are what matter most
Editorial Guidelines
All articles go through an editorial review before publishing
Content must be original, well-researched, and objective
Articles should be civic education-focused — not opinion columns or partisan commentary
Contributors retain credit for all published work
How to Apply
Express your interest through husika.org. Share a brief bio, your areas of policy interest, and optionally a writing sample or previously published piece.
