We are looking for confident, curious and engaging individuals to join Husika as Volunteer Podcast Hosts and help bring these conversations to life.
Role overview
As a Husika Podcast Host, you will lead and participate in podcast conversations, interview guests and create an environment where people feel comfortable sharing their experiences and perspectives.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys conversation, is naturally curious, communicates confidently and connects well with people from different backgrounds.
Key responsibilities
- Host and lead Husika Podcast episodes.
- Interview and engage with invited guests.
- Lead discussions on findings and outcomes from the Husika Weekly Pulse.
- Research topics and prepare relevant questions and discussion points.
- Guide conversations while keeping them natural, engaging and focused.
- Listen actively and ask meaningful follow-up questions.
- Introduce guests, topics and podcast segments.
- Collaborate with other hosts and the Husika team when preparing episodes.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for future topics, guests and podcast ideas.
- Represent Husika professionally during recordings, events and other activities.
- Participate in promotional content, including short videos, photos and social media content where needed.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality and respect when handling sensitive conversations or guest information.
Qualifications and requirements
Applicants should ideally have:
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence speaking in front of a microphone and camera.
- A good command of English and/or Kiswahili; the ability to communicate naturally in both is an added advantage.
- Good listening skills and the ability to ask thoughtful follow-up questions.
- The ability to research and understand different topics before interviews.
- The ability to interact respectfully with people from different backgrounds, professions and perspectives.
- Creativity and a willingness to contribute interesting topics, questions and ideas.
- Reliability, punctuality and willingness to commit to agreed recording schedules.
- The ability to work collaboratively with other hosts and the Husika team.
Previous experience in podcasting, journalism, media, public speaking, content creation, interviewing, radio, television or communications is an added advantage, but is not required.
