Husika Student Champion
About Husika
Husika (husika.org) is a civic technology organization committed to inclusive governance. We build platforms and communities that amplify citizen voices and drive meaningful policy change across Kenya.
Role Overview
We are looking for passionate, driven university students to serve as Husika Student Champions — the official representatives of Husika within their universities. This is a voluntary leadership role for students who believe in the power of youth in shaping public policy and governance.
As a Student Champion, you will be the bridge between Husika and your university community — organizing policy debates, building an engaged civic community on campus, and representing the next generation of Kenya's governance reformers.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent Husika officially within your university and act as the primary point of contact
- Organize and coordinate Husika-affiliated policy debates and civic forums on campus
- Build, maintain, and grow an active Husika community within your institution
- Mobilize fellow students to participate in Husika initiatives, campaigns, and consultations
- Share regular updates and feedback from your campus community back to the Husika team
- Collaborate with Student Champions across other universities on joint initiatives
What You'll Gain
- Grow with Husika — Be part of an expanding civic movement at the ground floor, with opportunities to take on greater responsibilities as the network scales
- Leadership Training & Mentorship — Access structured leadership development programs and mentorship from experienced professionals within the Husika network
- National Visibility & Impact — Participate in high-profile projects and policy discussions that reach decision-makers at the national level
- Professional Portfolio — Build a credible track record in civic leadership, community organizing, and policy engagement that sets you apart in any career path
- Peer Network — Join a cross-university cohort of like-minded student leaders, creating lifelong connections across institutions and disciplines
Who We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or postgraduate student at a Kenyan university
- Passionate about governance, public policy, and civic participation
- A natural communicator and community builder
- Self-driven, organized, and able to take initiative with minimal supervision
- Active on campus — involved in student government, clubs, or community initiatives is a plus
